Never bet against Vegas is my new rule. Let me explain.
Now this may be a little biased because I’m a huge Drew Brees fan, But how can you not be? Watching him and the Saints play is like watching a lion chase down a gazelle. I’m gonna watch that 10/10 times.
Except for tonight, it was more like that grandpa running for a touchdown video going around, you know the one. That’s what I felt like I was watching. Now I may be bad mouthing one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and probably my favorite quarterback, but he has a streak of doing this. Losing the second game of the season and then going 13-3 like they have the past 2 seasons. So I’m not losing any faith.
Now I’m not saying the Raiders didn’t play a great game tonight, because they definitely did. Derek Carr looks better in these first 2 weeks than he has in past seasons, He’s definitely trying to prove a point. He’s doing a good job of that so far. Plus the defense held the all time passing yards record holder to 24 pts tonight. This is a huge win for the Raiders and Jon Gruden, who I did not have high hopes for after last season. But did the NFL sell out to Vegas?
Now I know what you all are thinking, conspiracy theory. No, we’re not going that far. But I will say it seems a little fishy that Drew Brees beats The G.O.A.T but loses to Vegas. Loses to Vegas, just like everyone did tonight taking the Saints -4. Conspiracy theory? I think not. It’s just a simple rule we all fell for, Vegas always wins. Now if this theory is correct, they make a big playoff push. I don’t see them in the Superbowl, but Vegas has to make their money and they actually look like a great team right now. I don’t know if it’s the whole new Deathstar stadium thing or what, but they look amazing right now.
At the end of the day, the Saints lost to a better team that was ready to play. I don’t doubt we’ll be seeing the Saints and the Raiders in the playoffs this year, but what we did remember tonight is never bet against Vegas. Vegas always wins. Even if it is Drew Brees on the other side of the ball.
